A little adventure does the heart some good.
This past weekend my wonderful family visited us all the way from Round Rock, TX and New Haven, CT! We had a wonderful time visiting and showing them around the DFW area but our favorite event this weekend was visiting the Texas Tulips! If you’re unfamiliar with it, the Texas Tulips is a beautiful field of tulips located in Pilot Point, TX that always bloom around this time in the spring. If you’re in the area, or looking for a fun day trip this is the place to go.
Tip: The best time to go is on a weekday if you can and the best way to find their info is on their Facebook page.
One of my favorite pictures of us, gonna have to frame this one. My sweet momma. He said, “Will you accept this tulip?” My wonderful family.
Adventures in marriage…
This little adventure of ours, reminded me of Marcus and I’s many road trips when we were dating. Since we met in college and dated long distance, day trips were some of our favorite things to do. We fell in love driving to new places or fun events we would randomly find on Facebook, jamming out to the Jonas Brothers, trying new foods in different cities and long conversations about anything and everything!
In marriage, we’ve already been through plenty of adventures, and it’s only been two and a half months! God has His funny ways of teaching us things, sometimes it’s all at once and sometimes it’s slow and we must be patient. From little things to big things, a new experience is an adventure. Like, waiting at the DMV to change my name and update his address (yuck, the DMV is truly the worst though y’all). Or deciding to take a leap of faith and start the blog, this was all uncharted territory that we knew we wanted to do, try, or pursue.
I’m not gonna lie, when we first met, I was not much of a risk taker. Marcus on the other hand has always been the one to try anything, never playing it safe. He pulled that side out of me and since then I’ve become a better person because of that. Now as one, I keep us grounded and he keeps us daring. I think it’s kind of funny, we both wrote our own vows for our wedding, and somehow “adventures” came up in both of ours. He said, “Through every adventure that we have had, God has brought us to this point”. And I said, “I promise to dream big with you and never let fear get in our way. I promise to constantly adventure with you…”. We both know the importance of continuing this adventurous spirit we’ve grown together because we know that it does us good, individually and together. It’s easy to get into a habit of things and stick to doing the same things, it’s safe and easy. Trying new things can be scary and intimidating, but when you have your best friend, mom, dad, sibling, whoever, beside you, it make a huge difference. You’ll find out new things about yourself, it won’t be easy and sometimes not always fun but it’s worth it.

P.S. I promise to dedicate a whole post about our vows soon! Stay tunned.
